The Real Story
The airport hotel is often not looked at in a positive light. Many everyday consumers still think of it as an unnecessary luxury they can do without. And fact is, they would be right. A night spent in an airport hotel is not needed, but it is convenient. Their location close to the airport make them convenient stay-over spots for those who need to catch an early or late flight the next day, or live far from the airport.
Most people will skip on this convenience due to the perceived unaffordable nature of these hotel rooms. Which is not unfounded seeing as high-brow hotel chains like The Hilton have hotels dedicated to certain airports. Undercover hotels (sometimes called Super Saver hotels) change all that, by offering you all the luxury without the big price tag.
Problem is, you won’t know which hotel you’re booking yourself a room in, as the hotel’s identity remains a secret until you pay. Which will come as completely odd to some people. However, what is more interesting is the affordable prices. Especially when these undercover hotels are the same 3 to 5 star luxury hotels some were avoiding.
How Does It Work?
Well, most of the hotels, like The Hilton at Heathrow (oops…did I just say that?), are very protective over their premium image. Going ‘undercover’ is a way for them to sell their more affordable accommodation options, without damaging their posh image. This means you get the experience of luxury living close to your airport, but at a fraction of the cost.
Where Do I Get It?
Online. Booking an undercover hotel room should be done through a trusted booking site. Here you will be able to choose your room from a list (rooms are described in detail). Once you have booked, the booking confirmation sent to you will reveal the name and address of the mystery hotel, as well as full directions.
Hotels are also very happy to accept more than one booking in the same hotel (if it’s available), which makes it a stress-free, more convenient way for big families to travel.
And so the mystery is revealed. This innovation will open the door to many more people who before, never considered airport hotels as a viable option. Which in our book means more relaxed travellers than before.
